Muskingum University issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.

The Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant Will Provide New and Expanded Career Readiness Opportunities for Students.

Muskingum University today announced it has been awarded a $2.2 million Title III Strengthening Institutions grant from the U.S. Department of Education to strengthen support systems that prepare students for the workforce or continuing study while also ensuring timely degree completion.

The Title III program is designed to help institutions of higher education expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen academic quality, institutional management, and financial sustainability.

The University will use these funds to enhance the programs, people, and facilities needed to provide comprehensive career preparation for students from their first day on campus through graduation. More specifically, Muskingum will develop a state-of-the-art, fully-accessible Impact Center designed to promote experiential learning, community partnerships, and student engagement in preparation for impactful employment and service. The University will also enrich academic supports, advising, and financial literacy through the implementation of a new Teaching and Learning Center. These dynamic initiatives will further prepare faculty to deliver positive career outcomes by integrating 21st century skills into the entire curriculum.

“Career readiness integrated throughout excellent academic programming is a hallmark of Muskingum University,” said Muskingum University President Dr. Susan S. Hasseler. “This grant will allow us to immediately strengthen the University’s student support and career engagement programs to ensure every graduate is well-prepared for the world of work and beyond.”
