Commodore Men Cool Off in Second Half | Lorain County Community College
The Lorain County Community College men’s basketball team went into the halftime break nursing a one-point lead, 46-45, however the Butler County Community College Pioneers controlled the entire second half to earn their ninth win of the season, 97-80.
It was a tale of two halves for the Commodores. In the first half they shot 53% from the field but regressed in the second half with 29%. While the Commodores struggled in the second half, Butler excelled. The Pioneers cut through the normally stout Commodore defense, shooting 76% in the second-half to outscore LCCC 52-34.
Standing out for LCCC was Jayden Roberts (Wellington, Ohio/Wellington HS) with 24 points, six rebounds, two steals, and a block. Quante May (Cleveland, Ohio/Horizon Science Academy) led the Commodores in rebounds with nine and scored 21 points. Traevon Fann (Garfield Heights, Ohio/New Day Academy) got into double figures with 10 points. Luqman Lateef (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaw HS) had a team-high five assists.
The Commodores will be off until December 29 when they travel to Detroit, Mich. to take of the Wayne County Community College Wildcats in the Wayne CCC Tournament. LCCC lost to Wayne at home on November 18, 2022, 61-60.
