The Ohio House of Representatives has passed House Bill 81, a piece of legislation that seeks to honor the late Sheriff Dale R. Williams. State Representatives Don Jones and Monica Robb Blasdel made the announcement, stating that the bill designates a section of State Route 39 between Carrollton and Dellroy as the "Sheriff Dale R. Williams Memorial Highway." This designation aims to ensure that Sheriff Williams' dedication to Carroll County is remembered by all who pass by.

Sheriff Dale R. Williams had a long and illustrious career in law enforcement, beginning as a dispatcher in 1969. He later became a full-time road deputy before joining the Carrollton Police Department. In 2004, he was elected as sheriff, a position he held for 18 years. During his tenure, Sheriff Williams built a highly skilled and trained law enforcement department that prioritized the safety and protection of the community.

Tragically, Sheriff Williams passed away last September, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication. State Representative Don Jones, who personally knew Sheriff Williams, spoke about the impact he had on the community. Jones stated, "I met Sheriff Williams and can speak firsthand to the good work he did as a public servant, but also to the tremendous person he was. He was admired by his family, his co-workers, and his community."

Monica Robb Blasdel, another State Representative, also acknowledged Sheriff Williams' influence and leadership. She said, "I have witnessed the effects of his experience and leadership. The admiration the community has for him shows the transformational influence that he left on the Sheriff's Department. He was a lifelong public servant dedicated to the county, and his legacy will never be forgotten."

House Bill 81 has now been passed by the Ohio House of Representatives and will move to the Ohio Senate for further consideration. If the bill is approved by the Senate, it will solidify the tribute to Sheriff Dale R. Williams by officially designating a portion of State Route 39 as the "Sheriff Dale R. Williams Memorial Highway." This lasting memorial will serve as a reminder of Sheriff Williams' commitment and service to the Carroll County community.
