The Ohio House of Representatives has passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state's two-year construction budget for capital projects. State Representative Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) announced that the Capital Budget will make significant investments in local community projects.
Holmes highlighted several capital investments aimed at benefiting Muskingum County and its surrounding region. These include $200,000 allocated for renovating the Carr Center to ensure access to critical resources and services for children and adults with disabilities, and $57,000 earmarked for improvements to the Muskingum Behavioral Health facility to support individuals recovering from addiction and other substance use disorders.
“It is our responsibility to make Ohio the best possible home for children and families,” said Holmes. “These two important investments will support some of our most vulnerable families, friends, and neighbors.”
The legislation also encompasses substantial statewide capital investments. This includes $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund, $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program, and $397.6 million dedicated to higher education projects across Ohio.
Substitute House Bill 2 now awaits the Governor's signature.
