FOIA Request to Harrison County Regarding Open Records Law on October 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at EC Ohio News have submitted a request for records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq. The request was sent to Harrison County on October 7, 2024.
The records requested are specifically related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs sent to the county from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024. We are seeking details including the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date as well as the status of each FOIA request.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information. We await response from Harrison County regarding this request.
