State Rep. Adam Holmes | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Adam Holmes has issued a statement regarding the passing of Mayor Tom Johnson from the Village of Somerset. Holmes, a Republican from Nashport, expressed his condolences and highlighted Johnson's contributions to the community.
“Mayor Tom Johnson was a superior community leader and a powerful champion for Somerset and the entire Appalachian region. He committed his perpetual energy to improving the quality of life for others and possessed a real genius for community planning and economic development. Most importantly, Mayor Johnson had the greatest reputation for treating everyone with dignity, respect, and kindness. His legacy is the positive growth and success he created for all of us that he impacted, and he is dearly missed,” said Holmes.
Johnson was first elected as mayor in 2009. During his tenure, he focused on infrastructure improvements, economic development initiatives, arts and culture programming, as well as historic and nature preservation across the Appalachian region.
