The Ohio Senate has concurred with House amendments to Senate Bill 54, as announced by State Representative Don Jones from Freeport. The bill, which now awaits the Governor's signature, includes provisions from House Bill 683. This legislation was sponsored by Jones and allocates $10 million to the Department of Agriculture for drought mitigation efforts. The funds will be distributed through local Soil and Water districts.

Jones stated, "This bill is a direct response to the impact of extreme and exceptional drought conditions that has plagued eastern, southeastern, and southern Ohio." He further expressed appreciation for his colleagues' quick action to ensure farmers in Ohio receive timely assistance as they prepare for winter.
