State Rep. Adam Holmes | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Adam Holmes has issued a statement regarding a new partnership between Google and CTC Global aimed at enhancing the capacity of the U.S. electrical grid. Holmes emphasized Ohio's leadership in artificial intelligence development and manufacturing, noting that the current electric grid technology is outdated.
Holmes stated, "Ohio is leading the nation in developing artificial intelligence and reshoring our manufacturing base, yet the backbone of this economic growth — our electric grid — is running on technology designed a century ago." He warned of potential economic setbacks if electricity transmission issues are not addressed.
The representative expressed optimism about private sector involvement: "Our office is extremely encouraged to see the American private sector stepping up with the urgency and ingenuity this challenge demands." He highlighted Google's announcement of its partnership with CTC Global to deploy advanced power lines, considering Ohio as a prime candidate for initial investments.
Holmes believes such collaborations can significantly enhance grid capacity and reliability while reducing energy costs. "Through collaborative approaches like this we unlock our ability to harness the world’s most advanced conductors that can double the capacity of our existing grid," he said.
He praised the initiative as an example of effective private sector innovation: "The Google-CTC Global approach is the Ohio energy model at its best: private sector innovation leading the way instead of government."
Holmes concluded by stressing that investment in modern electricity transmission would support national supply chains and Ohio's workforce, ensuring continued American leadership in energy for future generations.
