Belmont College Board of Trustees Welcomes New Member

Belmont College is pleased to announce the addition of a new member to serve on the College Board of Trustees. The newest board member is Mrs. Melissa Smithberger. She was elected by Caucus and her term on the Board of Trustees began April 19, 2022.

Smithberger, from Monroe County, Ohio, currently works as Owner/Broker of Smithberger Realty, LLC.

 

“I am pleased to welcome Mrs. Smithberger as a new Board of Trustees member,” said Mrs. Elizabeth Gates, Board of Trustees Chairwoman. “She brings a wealth of experience and expertise in her field and will be a tremendous asset to the College as we further our mission of keeping higher education affordable and accessible to residents of the Ohio Valley.”

 

Additionally, Chairwoman, Mrs. Elizabeth Gates and Board member Mr. Cory DelGuzzo, were both reappointed to serve an additional three-year term. Their new term began on April 19, 2022.

 

Mrs. Gates, from Shadyside, Ohio, has served on the Belmont College Board of Trustees since 1995 and was named Chairperson of the Board in 2000. She is Vice President of Advisory Services at Omni Strategic Technologies and Co-Founded HGO Technology, Inc. in 1986, which was one of three companies merged to form Omni Strategic Technologies in 2014. Additionally, Mr. Delguzzo, from St. Clairsville, Ohio has served on the Board of Trustees since 2010. He current works as Associate Attorney at Holfinger Stevenson Law Firm and Regional Counsel/Manager at Northwest Title.

 

Belmont College is governed by a board composed of nine trustee members. Three of the trustees are Governor appointed and six are elected by a caucus of the presidents (or their designates) of the school boards within the College’s district. Appointees are qualified electors residing in the College’s district.
