New Police and Fire Employees Sworn-in

Two new City employees were sworn-in at the September 6 City Council meeting. 

Derek Bischoff was hired as an officer at the Harrison Police Department. Bischoff has worked as an officer for the Village of Mariemont, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Batavia. He graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Certification Training Program in 2012 and attended Ohio Dominican University on a baseball scholarship. He graduated from Ross High School. Bischoff resides in Harrison with his wife and children. 

Maddy Hamon was hired as a full-time firefighter and paramedic at Harrison Fire Department. She was hired part-time in 2020 after graduating from Great Oaks Fire Academy. In 2022, she completed Emergency Medical Technician training through Cincinnati State. Hamon graduated from East Central High School and resides in West Harrison, Indiana. 

The Harrison Police Department preserves the peace, responds to law enforcement service requests and protects life and property within the City limits. The Department employs 20 full-time sworn officers and two police clerks.  

The Harrison Fire Department staffs 10 people at two stations each day to provide a high level of firefighting and paramedic services. The department maintains a Class 2 ISO rating.

All City positions are filled by candidates who have successfully completed the Civil Service exam.
