Belmont College’s Office of Financial Aid has launched an initiative to help students fill out financial aid documents, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
All local students and their families are invited to Belmont’s Main Campus in St. Clairsville on Tuesday, November 15th from 5:00-7:00pm for assistance completing the FAFSA. For many college hopefuls, the FAFSA is a vital form that can help make dreams a reality through education; however, completing this government form can be challenging.
“The 2023-2024 FAFSA opened on October 1, 2022, for students planning to enroll for the Fall 2023 term,” said Danielle Moore, Director of Financial Aid. “We know these forms can be overwhelming and we are happy to help the community as well as get the word out about completing the FAFSA early.”
There are a few proactive steps students and parents can take prior to filling out the FAFSA form. Moore recommends establishing the Federal Student Aid identification (FSA ID), gathering tax documents such as 2021 IRS Federal tax return(s), 2021 W-2s, and/or any 2021 income documentation, and planning at least one hour to work on the form.
