FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.
On September 26, 2024, we at DeKalb Times submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to Dekalb County. The request sought records of all payments made to vendors within the period from January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024.
Specifically, we requested details such as the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount for each payment made within this timeframe. This information is vital in our role as a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
Access to public records is essential for us at DeKalb Times to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
