The Hospital Price Transparency Act has officially been enacted as law in Ohio. This legislation, spearheaded by State Representatives Ron Ferguson and Tim Barhorst, aims to enhance transparency in hospital pricing and reduce healthcare costs across the state. As part of the new law, all hospitals in Ohio are required to standardize and publicly reveal their charges.

Representative Ferguson emphasized that the law is designed to provide Ohioans with clear and upfront information about the costs associated with medical care. "This law will empower Ohioans with clear, up-front information about the costs of medical care," Ferguson declared at a press conference. "This is about the ability of patients to make informed decisions, shop for affordable options, and avoid surprise bills that can devastate families."

Meanwhile, Barhorst highlighted the potential economic benefits of the law. "This bill is going to establish a true free market in healthcare," he stated. "This gives patients and their employer-sponsored plan the opportunity to partner together for the sake of transparency and quality healthcare, resulting in better health outcomes for Ohioans."

The press conference offered insights into the expected impact of the law. A recording is available for those interested in reviewing the discussion.
